One of the most sought after and highly prized minerals from the historic copper mines of the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan is Calcite with included Native Copper. Such specimens stand out in any display and produce an internal glow from light reflected by untarnished bright Native Copper inclusions. This choice miniature comprises of two primary Calcite crystals, the larger to over 4 cm tall and both containing very finely divided and disseminated Native Copper in its natural, bright, unoxidized state, like that of a freshly polished copper pipe. To complete this delightful specimen, a group of equant Native Copper crystals cluster around the apex of the Calcite crystals and around to one side. This superb example of Calcite with included Native Copper and beautifully formed Native Copper crystals is from the Franklin mine at Franklin in Houghton County, Michigan, USA. The specimen comes with a custom milled-profile acrylic base into which the base of the specimen snugly fits.
