This double terminated scalenohedral Calcite sitting on small Fluorite crystals is from Ladywash mine at Eyam in Derbyshire, roughly half way between Chapel-en-le-Frith and Sheffield, as the crow flies however, not road! Ladywash mine exploited mineralised veins along Hucklow edge, eventually closing in 1979. I suspect the ridges over which the 2 to 4 mm colourless to pale lilac Fluorite cubes have grown are either Baryte or pseudomorphs after Baryte. The Calcite crystal measures 4.2 x 2.1 x 2.0 cm, is a translucent cream with internal zones tending towards transparent.
