This is a beautiful, yet complex Tsumeb classic. Although Bayldonite pseudomorphs/epimorphs after Mimetite have been found in a few places worldwide, none compare to the quality of those from Tsumeb mine. Even at Tsumeb good examples are rare, making this magnificent miniature specimen something to treasure. In it vivid green Bayldonite has entirely replaced a fan-like array of prismatic Mimetite crystals as epimorphs with tube-like interiors. Individually these crystals reach over 2 cm in length. On the other side of the specimen the shade of green changes, where the matrix becomes Malachite with a few Malachite pseudomorphs after well-formed bladed monoclinic Azurite crystals. Finally, a late stage of bright blue Azurite as sparkling microcrystals coats the green transition from Malachite to Bayldonite making a very attractive colour balance.
