An excellent large cabinet specimen of sage greenish grey Baryte crystals richly coating the top surface of a flat bed of milky Quartz. From Ale and Cakes mine at Carharrack in Gwennap parish, Cornwall, the Baryte forms crystals up to 1.8 cm long which create a pleasingly jumbled layer over the Quartz. A striking feature of this specimen is the brilliant lustre of the Baryte crystals, so reflective they appear almost silver. A very good example of Baryte from the historic Ale and Cakes mine at United Downs.
