This most beautiful large miniature Azurite with minor Malachite is from the Touissit mining district in the Jerada Province of Morocco and is a quite exceptional specimen. Six thick clusters of parallel groups of Azurite blades radiate out to form a pleasingly complex specimen. In addition to its gorgeous lustre, what makes this specimen particularly attractive is the readily visible azure blue colour. Although this would appear blindingly obvious, many such Azurite specimens are an intensely dark blue and tend to display as almost black crystals until examined close-up and in strong light. Individual clusters reach 3 x 3 x 1.5 cm and end in a myriad of tiny perfect terminations. Small patches of the Azurite are dusted in delicate micro-crystallised Malachite of leafy to peppermint green. A superb Azurite from Touissit.
