An attractively formed specimen of Witherite from the classic British location of Nentsberry Haggs Mine, Alston, Cumbria. The main Witherite crystal, measuring to 2.2cm, sits horizontally atop the specimen, displaying the ideal hexagonal slightly curved barrel habit, coated in white Baryte so typical of the location. Terminations of the Witherite also display the etched form, where the Carbonate Witherite has been partly replaced by the Sulphate Baryte. The crystal of Witherite is on a matrix of white Baryte-coated bladed crystals of Barytocalcite, with one or two further smaller crystals of Witherite.
