Willemite, zinc silicate, is one of the rarer iconic minerals from Tsumeb mine. It occurs in a several different forms, but the sky-blue botryoidal crusts are perhaps the most recognizable. This small cabinet specimen shows that form extremely well, both on the surface and in cross section too. The display surface shows translucent blue Willemite as a sparkling crystallized botryoidal layer made up of tiny bladed crystals with a 'wet' lustre with areas of red-brown Goethite inclusions on the reverse. The texture and appearance of the Willemite is wonderful - a very fine specimen indeed.
