The famous Jeffrey mine at Asbestos, Quebec, Canada has probably produced the most diverse range of colours in Vesuvianite from anywhere in the world. These beautiful, very gemmy, purple crystals are manganese-enriched Vesuvianite which is one of the most sought after varieties because of its beautiful colour, and rarity. Lustrous crystals of purple Vesuvianite are liberally aggregated over a pastel yellow-green to colourless crystal druse of Vesuvianite. A very pretty specimen, and at large miniature to small cabinet specimen size it is larger than most specimens that come up for sale. The Jeffrey mine ceased operations in the early 2000s and so the likelihood of new material is remote.
