Afghanistan has produced many wonderful crystals of Spodumene, some very large, but often the larger they are the less perfect they become and they are nearly always loose - off matrix. This very large miniature, or small cabinet specimen features an extremely well-formed 6.8 cm tall pale pink prismatic Spodumene crystal which stands dramatically upwards from a thin (5 mm) layer of cream Albite. Alongside the base of the Spodumene crystal the Albite layer widens to 1.5 cm thick with well crystallized creamy-white bladed Albite crystals upon which also sits a lovely 2 cm tall, glassy, deep brown Smoky Quartz crystal. The specimen is aesthetically very pleasing and the Spodumene crystal really fine, with sharp, well-defined edges. From Laghman Province, Afghanistan.
