Metallic, silvery-grey Skutterudite crystals measuring to 1.2 cm mostly cover the display face of this impressive large cabinet specimen from the uncommon European location of the Monte Romero mine in Andalusia, Spain. Skutterudite is a cobalt arsenide. This mine lies in the southwestern extremity of Spain, about mid-way between the beautiful city of Seville and the Portuguese border and worked a massive sulphide deposit in the Iberian Pyrite Belt. The matrix underlying the rich coverage of Skutterudite crystals is of mixed sulphides with a lot of finely disseminated Pyrite visible. A tremendous example of well crystallised Skutterudite from Spain.
