The famous Tincroft mine lies between Carn Brea and Tuckingmill, to the east of Camborne near to Pool where it is known for its beautifully crystallised Siderite. This lovely specimen has a band, 6 cm long and 1 to 2 cm broad, of gemmy golden-sherry-brown equant Siderite crystals, typically of around 0.5 cm across overlaying a surface of opaque, milky-white terminated Quartz crystals. The Siderite crystals are modified cuboctahedrons with finely-striated prism faces giving a frosted appearance. A beautiful group of Siderite crystals from Tincroft mine.
