Tsumeb Mine Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region Namibia
Condition
No recorded repairs
Glossy, oily-black micaceous crystal lamellae of the rare iron arsenate Schneiderhohnite line a cavity within a sulphide ore matrix with some areas displaying a purplish iridescence. The main area of Schneiderhohnite mineralisation covers 2 x 2 cm, with the largest crystals to over 1 cm, which is huge for this species. From its type locality at Tsumeb in Namibia, this good-sized miniature is a relatively large specimen for such a rare species and is a very fine example of Schneiderhohnite. As an added bonus the specimen sits and displays well with the Schneiderhohnite crystals readily visible.
