Schaurteite is one of the Tsumeb mine's sought after rare Germanium species. On this specimen Schaurteite is seen as a characteristic aggregate of intergrown silky and lustrous fibrous crystals filling an area of 10 x 8 mm. Close inspection using a standard loupe shows a thin layer of light tan Calcite underlying the Schaurteite on the complex Germanium sulphide ore. Tsumeb is the Type Locality of Schaurteite and this excellent example will grace any good collection of Tsumeb minerals.
