Considered one of the great all-time classic American mineral collecting localities, Graves Mountain in Lincoln County, Georgia was once owned by the famous gemmologist George Kunz who allowed friends to collect specimens their in the early 1900s. Most famous for Rutile, the crystals found there are amongst the best in the world for their size, shape and lustre, with twinned crystals also well-known. This superb, larger miniature-sized display specimen features three main Rutile crystals, the largest of which reaches an impressive 4.3 cm across. Embedded in, but standing proud of a matrix of platy, silvery-lustered crystals of Muscovite, the Rutile crystals are really well formed and with very glossy with a deep reddish-brown colour. A extremely fine display Rutile from this classic American locality.
