This is a delightful small cabinet size 'star'-burst radiating array of light lilac coloured gemmy Quartz (var. Amethyst) crystals, individually measuring to 7 cm in length and with excellent sharp terminations displaying the classic three dominant faces from the Piedra Parada area in Veracruz, Mexico. Although the prisms have a hexagonal cross-section the six largest crystals on this small cabinet specimen each exhibit markedly different symmetry with some sections being so asymmetric, they appear triangular. Likewise their terminations differ a great deal making this not only aesthetic, but crystallographically fascinating. Internally, the crystals are transparent, but with a myriad of tiny flashes of light and reflections, which add significantly to its allure. In great overall condition this is a wonderful classic from this most famous of Mexican occurrences.
