These two intergrown, double terminated, opaque milky Quartz crystals are from one of the quarries close to the town of Warstein in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The hexagonal crystals measure 3.3 and 3.5 cm long respectively, from tip to tip of their double terminations, and are completely free-from matrix. In Germany, such crystals are referred to as the variety 'Suttroper Quartz' and occasionally 'Suttroper Diamant'. The lustre is generally glassy, with the occasional duller patch and some termination faces display subtle, tile-like growth patterns. This terrific Quartz cluster comes with what is obviously an old label, handwritten in a beautiful, typical Germanic-style font.
