Although this specimen is composed entirely of Pyromorphite, the graduation in crystal size creates a vein-like structure, migrating form very small, almost granular Pyromorphite along the outer edges to large 1.5 cm+ crystals throughout the central band. From the famous MMM mine at Broken Hill, in New South Wales, Australia, the Pyromorphite ranges from pale to dark clove-brown and on the reverse side is almost black due to a very thinly deposited surface coating. Most of the crystals display flat, stepped terminations, many forming a series of spiralling steps. A beautiful and showy large miniature / small cabinet Broken Hill Pyromorphite.
