Bright metallic, brassy golden Pyrite crystals measuring to 2 cm stand well proud of the contrasting white Dolomite matrix, making a most handsome cabinet specimen from the Manganese Deposit at Ober an der Laming in Austria. The Pyrite forms convexly rounded pyramidal crystals which at first appear octahedral, but closer inspection reveals much more complexity, the majority of faces masked by their distracting but aesthetic curvature. It’s a fabulous cabinet specimen and terrific for this location.
