Known to originate from Tuscany, it would be nice to pinpoint its exact location, but there are a number of localities in this part of Italy which produce such very fine specimens. A core of massive polycrystalline Pyrite is totally covered with excellent cubic Pyrite crystals with the largest attaining 1.9 cm along one face; a more typical size is, say, 1 to 1.4 cm on edge. The Pyrite crystals are a typical Pyrite buttery-gold with a bright metallic lustre, all with striated faces which bulge a little outwards in a gentle convex manner. A terrific Italian well-crystallised Pyrite and good for display.
