A well-crystallized large thumbnail of Pyrargyrite forming intergrown crystals to nearly 2 cm with some development of hopper terminations and a lustrous metallic grey colour. This fine ex-matrix specimen is from the San Juan de Rayas mine in Guanajuato, Mexico and although the overall patina is that of a silvery-black oxidation layer, close observation using a small loupe (or good close-up eyesight) reveals large areas tending to mottled cherry red, the true colour of Pyrargyrite.
