A sparkling bed of Olivenite crystals line a concave depression in white Quartz veinstone from Wheal Gorland, St. Day, Cornwall. Similar crystals of intensely dark olive green Olivenite have also formed on the reverse of the specimen. The Olivenite is so dark it looks black, yet the overall appearance has a distinctive dark green cast, typical of many Olivenite specimens from the Gwennap mining district. This is a rich small cabinet specimen of Olivenite from Wheal Gorland, probably Cornwall’s most famous mine amongst mineral collectors.
