Acicular crystals of semi-transparent olive-lime-green Olivenite line the vuggy surface of an opaque white granular Quartz veinstone matrix. From Wheal Gorland in the parish of Gwennap, now in the village of St Day east of Redruth, Cornwall, this is a good representative specimen of this habit of Olivenite, with crystals to a few mm in length. Olivenite is a copper arsenate and it was for the very fine suite of arsenate minerals that Wheal Gorland and other near-by mines became world famous.
