Considering the quantity of copper ore produced and sold by mines in Chile the number of actual Native Copper specimens seen in collections are few indeed. This extremely large miniature specimen is from El Salvador mine in the self-named El Salvador mining district, Chañaral Province, Atacama, Chile and is actually extremely rich when one looks in detail. The spongey, yet hackly Native Copper holds together isolated prismatic crystals of white Quartz (labelled as Calcite). Ex David Hardman Collection, no. 7167.
