A fine 'leaf' of rose coloured Native Copper metal runs up one side of this miniature specimen from the famous Kombat mine in the Grootfontein District, Namibia. The matrix is a white siliceous, Quartz-rich rock and the Native Copper forms a thin veinlet, most of its length of which is exposed on one side, with the uppermost section practically freestanding in a quite dramatic little specimen. The veinlet is 6.3 cm in length but only 2 to 3 mm wide. Despite Kombat mine having opened in 1900 and worked through to the 1970s and with many later sporadic attempts at working the deposit, including within the past couple of years, specimens are rarely seen available.
