Amazonite, the turquoise-blue variety of Microcline, is a really popular mineral, especially from the classic Colorado pegmatite occurrences. This is probably because of the combination of its attractive, but unusual colour, and its wonderful geometric form in prominent displayable crystals. This really fine large miniature specimen comes from Wigwam Creek in Jefferson County and is an older specimen, coming from David Hardman's collection. Despite being a paler turquoise-blue in colour the aggregate of parallel crystals presents extremely well, not least because the crystals are all complete and damage-free.
