Meionite is a rare silicate, good crystals of which are very seldom seen in collections; here at Crystal Classics it is a species we hardly ever encounter. This beautifully crystallised example is from the Bear Lake Diggings close to Monmouth Township in Ontario, Canada, a locality which is now totally closed to collecting. Several superb crystals of various sizes occur with pale salmon pink Feldspar. The largest Meionite measures 4.3 x 1.8 x 1.7 cm, is opaque creamy pale sage green and has a perfect termination. Smaller crystals are more translucent and are a milky pale peppermint green. If you have been hunting for a well-developed example of Meionite, then this could be for you.
