What a simple, yet lovely combination. Both Calcite and Malachite tend to get overlooked in favour of the exotic rarities at Tsumeb mine, but if ever there was a demonstration of how great the more well-known species can be at Tsumeb then this is surely it. Perfect, colourless to cream-white, transparent rhombs of Calcite provide a wonderful crystallized display as the basis of this great miniature piece. Upon, but in some cases underneath the Calcite crystals, are small diverging sprays and a larger 'ball' of deep green glossy Malachite. Those underneath show through the transparent Calcite crystals, providing a lovely feature and those upon stand out dramatically as a darker coloured contrast with the Calcite, but contrast in crystal shape too. In excellent condition, I can only see one Calcite crystal in the main display area with edge wear, but even that is minor in comparison to the amazing aesthetics that this piece possess. An extremely pretty and really well-balanced Tsumeb miniature.
