Löllingite and Arsenopyrite are two closely related species and can be difficult to tell apart visually, unless you have distinct crystals. Unfortunately, neither are commonly seen as crystals and both are bright silver in appearance. As a species, Arsenopyrite is much more common but is rarely really well crystallized as freestanding crystals. Löllingite on the other hand is almost never seen as discernible crystals. As luck would have it this superb cabinet-sized display specimen from Huanggang Fe-Sn Deposit (No. 5 mine) in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China helps. Upon it Löllingite forms huge (to 6 cm across) fin-like bladed composite crystals with serrated edges upon which sparse small rhombic Arsenopyrite crystals are scattered. This is exceptional material, particularly for Löllingite.
