This nicely crystallized miniature specimen of Libethenite is from the Type Locality at Ľubietová (Libethen), Banská Bystrica County, Slovakia. Massive white Quartz veinstone has a cavity at one end appearing to represent a cast, or casts, after a long gone primary mineral. Inside these casts are many (over 40) lustrous dark olive-green sharply formed octahedral crystals of Libethenite measuring to 3 mm across. Three old number labels are attached to the side of the specimen about which nothing is known, but most recently the specimen was owned by a high profile academic German collector. A really lovely classic of this unusual copper phosphate hydroxide species from Eastern Europe.
