A very rich and stunning miniature of the rare zinc arsenite, Leiteite, from its type locality at Tsumeb mine in Namibia. This terrific specimen forms a slightly tapering, almost columnar assemblage of foliated Leiteite, measuring to 3 cm tall by 2.6 x 2.2 cm in cross section. The lustre is highly pearlescent, of translucent white tinted delicate pink. If you have not encountered Leiteite before, it’s a strange type of mineral, with the appearance of cellophane. The Leiteite has formed on an iridescent grey sulphide matrix, probably massive Tennantite. The richness of the specimen speaks for itself.
