Of the two types of Jade, Nephrite and Jadeite, Jadeite is by far the most precious and sought-after species. This off-matrix miniature has a convex upper surface, mirrored by a concave opposite face, of mid-emerald green and hence the term Emerald Jade. From the locality of Uru Fluss in Myanmar (formerly Burma), this lovely specimen has been polished at one end, forming a curved area of roughly 4 x 1.5 cm. With its ever-increasing popularity, especially amongst Chinese collectors, pieces such as this are becoming increasingly rare. A terrific example of this highly prized variety of Jadeite from Myanmar.
