A terrific creamy-white crystal of the relatively rare phosphate Hydroxylherderite, from the granite pegmatites at Barra do Salinas in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The ex-matrix crystal is a steep-sided, four-faced pyramid of light cream-tan Hydroxylherderite forming a thin veneer over a bluish-white glassy core. Two crystal faces develop-out into smaller euhedral Hydroxylherderite crystals giving a more complex and interesting morphology. A lovely example of this interesting species often associated with gem pegmatite deposits.
