A typical Alpine cleft specimen from Cavradi Gorge in the Curnera Valley, Grischun, Switzerland. Mirror-bright, metallic, platy black Hematite crystals to around 1.8 cm display faces richly covered with ruby red micro-crystals of Rutile. In general, the Rutile has developed in perfect alignment to the apex of each Hematite blade, yet with occasional Rutile crystals splayed at 45 degree in either direction to the vertical trend. The Hematite is associated with gem-clear Quartz crystals measuring to 4.5 cm. A fabulous small cabinet specimen which will sit comfortably in any collection of Alpine minerals.
