This is a very rich miniature specimen of the complex iron magnesium aluminium phosphate hydroxide hydrate species Gormanite, from one of its two Co-Type Localities - Rapid Creek. Split to reveal silky, fan-like sprays of compact acicular teal-green Gormanite crystals, these sprays reach 18 mm in radius. The outer edge of the Gormanite appears to have weathered to a thin dark grey crust, but when split the superb internal colour is revealed. Compact, pure, solid masses of Gormanite are much rarer from Rapid Creek than delicate acicular freestanding sprays. Ex David Hardman collection. Collecting is now prohibited at Rapid Creek meaning that no new material will be coming to the mineral collecting world. A lovely rich Gormanite.
