There is always something rather fascinating with sooty-black Goethite coating Cerussite after Anglesite, specimens so characteristic of the Broken Hill mining district of New South Wales in Australia and, in the case of this specimen, from the classic MMM Mine. The pseudomorphs are sharp and crisp, with individual, double terminated crystals measuring to 2.5 x 1 x 0.8 cm, in other words, great chunky crystals! The Cerussite pseudomorphing after Anglesite is seen beneath the specimen to be colourless and glassy, coated by a 1 mm thick veneer of matt black Goethite. Classic material from this most famous of Australian mines.
