Elmwood mine at Carthage, Tennessee, is famous for many fine mineral specimens, but usually individual species where the quality exceeds many other world occurrences. Golden tipped scalenohedral Calcite is a classic example, but it is also known for stunning Fluorite crystals and combinations too. Less well-known outside of specialist collectors of Elmwood material and Fluorite connoisseurs are the natural etched Fluorite 'cones'. This beautiful and delicately purple coloured 'inverted snow cone' Fluorite has a nice association with feathery sprays of creamy-white Baryte. Worldwide, this form of Fluorite is almost unheard of, making these Elmwood mine specimens very special. Ex Hans Engelbrecht collection.
