It is not often that you see Fluorite from Rampgill mine for sale and this cabinet specimen is a really lovely example. It features individual (rather than twinned) pale amber to cream coloured cubes of Fluorite (to 1.2 cm on edge) on a bed of smaller (3 to 4 mm) colourless cubic Fluorite crystals themselves coating a bed of small Milky Quartz crystals. Occasional dull, black, rounded Sphalerite crystals (up to 1 cm across) are scattered amongst the Fluorite. As one would expect (for the North Pennines), this specimen displays strong purple fluorescence under long-wave UV light. A green typed number label (G.9) attached to the back of this specimen is in the style of Secured Minerals (Lindsay Greenbank) but no other label is present.
