The rich intense amber colour of this Fluorite from Peyrebrune, Tarn, Midi-Pyrénées, France is remarkable. This lesser-known French locality is known to have produced a small number of yellow, glassy Fluorite crystals in about 2018, but the only specimens I can trace of this glowing amber colour date to the early 1980s. This large miniature-sized detached single crystal is glassy, gemmy and translucent and is probably from a much earlier find. It shows the two main edges in fine condition, but with the lower corners cleaved. The back tapers away but allows light to penetrate through like a glowing fire from within. It was formerly (until 2013) in Michael Harris' superb collection based near Conwy in north Wales. Michael had a very cultured eye for quality and assembled a remarkable collection.
