A small cabinet specimen of gemmy light leaf-green Fluorite cubes to 1.2 cm on edge, all occurring as interpenetrant twins. The pairs of crystals are nicely spread out over a matrix of heavily corroded Galena crystals with sooty, matt black surfaces surrounded by micro-crystals of gemmy colourless Quartz. The specimen shows no sign of natural daylight fluorescence but under LWUV the Fluorite is bright patchy lilac, lavender and purple, contrasting superbly against the pitch black, non-fluorescent matrix. A beautiful miniature example showcasing the classic mineralogy of the world famous Heights mine at Westgate in Weardale, County Durham.
