This distinctive, naturally etched form of Fluorite, is a famous feature of Elmwood mine in Tennessee. Virtually always purple, these somewhat conical, tapering crystals are most often seen as single detached crystals, but this great larger miniature specimen has a second crystal attached to the rear of the first. Although this does not act as a perfect support for display, it does add to its character. The main crystal shows perfectly the way this form has developed, with its three-sided pyramidal termination representing one corner of a larger cubic Fluorite crystal with dissolution extending downwards leaving a crazed rough-textured surface. Often described as 'ice-cream cones' this form of Fluorite is certainly a talking point and this one is in great condition.
