A great example of beautifully crystallised Dolomite with Quartz from the Magnesite deposit worked by the old quarry and mines at Sunk, close to the resort of Hohentauern in Styria, Austria. This deposit has been worked since about 1640. Five colourless to greyish-white opalescent rhombohedral Dolomite crystals, up to 1.2 cm on edge, form an attractive cluster on top of a triangular bed of glassy, stepped translucent grey Dolomite crystals. Scattered over these are a few long, acicular needle-habit Quartz crystals to 1.5 cm, often double terminated and coated in micro-crystalline milky-Quartz. A fine specimen from the Magnesite Deposit at Sunk in Austria.
