A charming 'old time' specimen-rich in translucent, Burgundy-red Cuprite crystals and felt-like coatings of the acicular variety 'Chalcotrichite'. This specimen is from the Old Gunnislake mine, part of the Clitters United Mines at Gunnislake in Cornwall. A solid, blocky matrix of limonitic Quartz and Cuprite vein material has one deep vug richly lined with Cuprite crystals to about 3 mm, whose habits include cubic, distorted-cubic and cuboctahedral. The remaining areas within the vugs are carpeted with micro-crystals of beautifully reticulated 'Chalcotrichite'. A super Cuprite from the historic Old Gunnislake mine in north Cornwall, England.
