A beauty of a thumbnail crystal specimen of Chalcocite from the Geevor Mine (closed in 1991). The mine became famous during the 1980s for producing the occasional stunning crystal of Chalcocite. The specimen we have here displays a classic, dark grey metallic hexagonal platy crystal of Chalcocite, slightly twinned, and measuring 1.6 cm across. The crystal is aesthetically presented on a small finger of grey-white Quartz, and displays intricate growth lines and stepped surfaces. A fine Cornish thumbnail specimen.
