This miniature specimen from the St. Just mining district, near to Land's End is composed entirely of the copper sulphide mineral Chalcocite as large, well-formed crystals. Intergrown, steel-blue hexagonal Chalcocite crystals with sharp edges and beautifully striated faces form a very aesthetic cluster that sits naturally for display. The largest crystal measures 1.7 cm across at its widest point, and on some surfaces, micro-granular crystals of a bluish-green mineral occur, probably Paratacamite. There is some minor damage to one edge of the main crystal and the edge of another smaller crystal, but the dark metallic colour of Chalcocite means that neither are overly apparent. A really fine display specimen of Cornish Chalcocite crystals.
