A clearly very rich, and old classic from the famous Mammoth Mining District in Pinal County, Arizona, USA. Approximately 40% of the matrix of this miniature specimen is bright turquoise to electric-blue Caledonite and the remainder is white to cream coloured Cerussite and perhaps other lead-bearing species. Dotted around the surface are open cavities lined with well-formed small Caledonite crystals. Originally labelled as from Leadhills in Scotland (the Type Locality), it is quite clear that the colour (a much deeper and intense blue) and overall form of this piece are inconsistent with Leadhills, but are very much in line with the discoveries at Mammoth during the 1960s and perhaps earlier. Ex Francis Coune Collection (Belgium).
