Gemmy colourless Calcite crystals form a domed mound entirely hiding a matrix of limonitic Hematite. The crystals and habit suggest the Pallaflat mine north of Egremont, but a specific mine has not been recorded, save for the Egremont area. This is typical of so many specimens from these mines for when specimens were being produced, such a general locality was considered perfectly adequate. The Calcite forms stubby scalenohedral crystals of about 1 to 1.5 cm tall with complex faces characteristic of the West Cumbrian localities. The highly reflective glassy lustre completes the excellent aesthetic of this delightful large miniature.
