An excellent small cabinet specimen of intergrown, platy Calcite crystals standing edge-on across a porous, massive Calcite matrix from the St Andreasberg mining area in Lower Saxony, Germany. The Calcite crystals measure to over 3 cm and display white prism faces (the central areas of the plates) with a colourless zone around the outer edges. Although not forming hexagonal cells, it is best described as a honeycomb structure. A fine, aesthetic and well crystallised Calcite from St. Andreasberg.
