A single blocky crystal of Bustamite stands upright at the front of this very large miniature specimen from Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia. The somewhat rounded, terminated Bustamite crystal measures 5 cm tall and stands nicely for display. It displays a lovely varied pink colour with a vitreous lustre and is mostly translucent with some gemmy areas. The matrix comprises smaller Bustamite crystals intergrown within creamy veins of Calcite, and black sub- metallic areas of possible Sphalerite. Well-crystallized Bustamite is rare worldwide - Broken Hill being the main source. However, most larger crystals are detached from matrix making this a fine display piece with scientific value too.
