A porous and vuggy granular matrix of mid-grey mixed Pyrolusite and Psilomelane richly invested with many very fine and well-developed crystals of the silver halide Bromian Chlorargyrite Ag(Cl,Br). This specimen is from the Broken Hill Proprietary mine in New South Wales, Australia and is a splendid example, the Bromian Chlorargyrite being of a rich apple-green colour and forming sharp equant crystals of typically 1 to 2 mm across. Some of the Bromian Chlorargyrite crystals have a very thin coating of metallic-grey Pyrolusite, partly camouflaging their appearance while still being remarkably distinct because of their excellent crystal habit. A choice specimen of this rare silver halide, formerly termed embolite.
