There are very few notable Emerald occurrences in Europe, and most are located in the Alps. One of the best known is in the Habach Valley in Austria. It from there that this fine small cabinet specimen comes. Five richly coloured emerald green translucent well developed hexagonal prismatic Beryl, var. Emerald crystals individually measuring to 9 mm in length are aesthetically arranged over a contrasting light coloured Mica schist matrix. The majority of Emerald crystals from the Emerald mine in Habach Valley are not a rich intense green like these, but a washed out pale green and often opaque internally. This choice specimen was formerly owned by Christian Weise.
